SIMPLY PUT: MUTUAL AID IS BROTHERHOOD IN ACTION

What are we trying to do here? Simply put we are trying to help our brothers and sisters. We believe strongly in the brotherhood of the fire service and we met some brothers that had a need. We are doing it imperfectly. But we are consciously making an effort to do it in a sustainable way that will lead to the most benefit for their communities. We are very thankful for the close relationships and friendships that we have developed. That has enabled us to take two trips a year to Guatemala to work and stay at the fire stations. As any firefighter will tell you, that is where the relationships become real… at the dinner table, in the back of an ambulance, walking out (no… running out) of bed in the middle of the night to run calls in the community. And THAT is where we have and are learning the individual needs of each community.
